Green Coffee for Wholesalers & Distributors

A distributor’s reputation is built on not surprising their customers. This page covers how we structure supply around that.

Quick answer

Wholesalers need range and reliability more than they need any single lot. We supply across specialty and commercial segments from six origins on programme contracts, with a governing sample and per-shipment verification so what arrives in month nine matches what arrived in month one.

Range

A wholesale offer list has to cover several different customers at once. The six origins together give a range that spans most of what a mixed customer base asks for.

Consistency across a programme

  1. 1Governing sample agreed at the start of the programme and retained by both parties.
  2. 2Per-shipment verification against it — physical analysis and cup screening.
  3. 3Crop-year transition planned explicitly, with re-approval at the changeover.
  4. 4Substitution protocol agreed in advance for when a specification cannot be filled.
  5. 5Shipment pattern fixed or on call-off with a stated notice period.

Practical points for distribution

  • Bag format. 30 kg presentations cost more per kilo and are far easier for small-roaster customers to handle. Worth carrying both.
  • Packaging. Hermetic liners on anything you expect to hold; see green coffee storage.
  • Stock rotation. Track by arrival date and re-cup on a schedule rather than assuming a fixed shelf life.
  • Documentation. Keep the lot identity through your own system — a customer asking which station their coffee came from is a good sign, and you need to be able to answer.

Frequently asked questions

Can you supply 30 kg bags?
Yes. 30 kg presentations are available for small specialty separations and are much easier for small-roaster customers to handle. They carry a higher per-kilo packaging cost than 60 kg jute.
How do you keep a programme consistent across a season?
With a governing sample agreed at the start, retained by both parties, and per-shipment verification against it rather than individual approval of each parcel. The crop-year transition is planned explicitly with re-approval at the changeover.
What happens if a specification cannot be filled?
Whatever the contract says — which is why the substitution protocol should be agreed at the outset. The options are substitution against agreed parameters, deferral to a later shipment, or release from that shipment.
Do you supply certified coffee for wholesale programmes?
Certified lots may be available subject to origin, crop, certification status and current inventory. The certificate scope of every operator in the chain needs to cover the activity, so it is worth raising at the enquiry stage.
